WATER RECREATION IN GUATEMALA

DON'T WORRY... JUST TRAVEL...  BE HAPPY

KAYAKING AND CANOEING:

Kayaks and canoes can be rented at Lake Atitlan, the Montericco nature preserve, and the Rio Dulce area.  There are also tour operators that can take you to the best rivers for kayaking and canoeing

AVAILABLE TOURS:

FISHING:

The most popular fishing spots in Guatemala are Lake Izabal and the Pacific Ocean.  Boats are available for rent at Lake Izabal, though you should probably bring your own gear, as it can be difficult to find.  Deep-sea fishing on the Pacific coast can be arranged through tour operators.

AVAILABLE TOURS:

SAILING AND BOATING:

One of the best places for sailing and boating is the Rio Dulce area, from Lake Izabal all the way up to Belize. You'll easily be able to charter a boat, with or without a guide.  There are also marinas where you can dock your own boat.

Another marina where you can dock your own boat is in San Jose, on the Pacific coast.

There are also many lakes in Guatemala suitable for sailing or motor boating:  Lake Atitlán, Lake Izabal, Lake Amatitlán, Lake Petén Itzá and Lake Petexbatún.

Many of the tour agencies offer sailing charter trips, ranging from a day to six days. You are almost sure to find flyers on the bulletin boards at Doña Luisa´s in Antigua.
