Guatemala offers a wealth of water recreation, from white-water rafting to
windsurfing:
WHITE WATER RAFTING, JUNGLE RIVER
BOATS:
Guatemala has many rivers that provide excellent white-water rafting.
Unless you are very experience, the best way to go is through one of the tour
operators.
The Río Cahabón in Cobán is one of the best white-water rivers and
many of the tour operators offer trips ranging from one to five days. The
Cahabón has Class III and IV rapids and can be quite exciting, as well as
beautiful. You´ll be able to see a wide variety of bird and animal life,
as well as natural hot spring, caves and waterfalls.
Starting in Lanquìn, the trip down the river usually takes about four days.
Two companies that offer all-inclusive trips are: Maya
Expeditions and Ecotoursim & Adventure Specialists (ecoadventure@mail2.guate.net),
both of which are in Guatemala City.
AVAILABLE TOURS :
