is a list of the most popular volcanoes to climb in Guatemala. The
easiest way to go is to find a guided tour, for the volcanoes that have that. Check at travel agencies and on bulletin boards such as Dona
Luisa's in Antigua for tours, however we will provide some information
about companies that specialized only in volcano climbing. If you go on your own, make sure to
have a map. You can buy them at many of the bookstores in
Antigua.

and its neighbor Toliman are the twin peaks that rise above Lake Atitlán.
Atitlán is the more difficult of the two.

to get there: A trail starts in the town of San Lucas
Tolimán. Ask locals for detailed information.
SAN
PEDRO

Lake Atitlán
One of
the volcanoes towering over Lake Atitlán, San Pedro, is the easiest of the
three. The climb is steep but not difficult.
How
to get there: The trail starts right outside the village of San Pedro la
Laguna. There will most likely be offers by local guides
