SAN JUAN COTZAL
San Juan Cotzal is another town that is part of the Ixil
Triangle. A Saturday market is held in San Juan Cotzal, which can be reached by bus
from Nebaj. The road winds and can be difficult, but the scenery is
spectacular.
The people of this village grow the maguey plant and specialize in weaving
rope products from its fibers.
ACCOMMODATIONS: No
hotels available, but you can ask everyone where you can spend the night. It is
very basic, so don't expect any luxury.
