PANAJACHEL BASIC INFORMATION

INTERNET ACCESS: The Internet is actually very fashionable in this country and there are many cafes that offer this service at a very modest fee of $1.25. Cafenet Panajachel on Calle Santander has Internet service. 

POST OFFICE: Mon-Fri, 8 to 4:00pm, just right pass the city church. To send packages out, it is better to use a private carrier, like Guate out on the 2nd floor, where El Chisme restaurant is. 

BANKS: They only exchange US currency and US travelers checks. You can also exchange at the large hotels or some private business at officials rates. The Banco Immobiliario on Calle Santander and Calle Real offer the service. They serve you at the Guatemalan pace, so just be patient. IF YOUR CREDIT CARD IS STOLEN DON'T PANIC, CLICK HERE

TELEPHONE:  The telephone office is located halfway down Calle Santander. You won't miss it --  there is only one street and it is not too long. 

LAUNDROMAT: Inside the mall on Calle de los Arboles, open from Mon - Sat, 9-6pm. 

TOURIST INFORMATION: The Guatemalan Tourist Office,  INGUAT at Edificio Rincon Sai, Tel: 762-1392. They have all the necessary information you need to explore the area.

BIKE RENTAL: At the beginning of Calle Santander, inexpensive less than $4.00 a day. You can also rent motorcycles at Moto Servicio Queche or Pana Rent on Calle de Los Arboles. 

CAR RENTALAsk the Tourist Office Located at Edificio Rincon Sai, since they always change.

APARTMENTS FOR RENT: Pana has become a popular place to live and visit, and the wonderful weather and natural beauty of the lake invite you to stay. Due to its popularity, houses for rent are scarcer, but you can rent small apartments. Ask the Tourist Office located at Edificio Rincon Sai for the list. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE: For non-emergencies, go to a local doctor recommended by the hotel, travel agency or friendly resident.  But for serious problems, Guatemala City has much to offer in the way of medical services.  Many are English-speaking and/or American-trained doctors. See reference list.
