RIO DULCE HISTORY AND TOURIST INFORMATION

DON'T WORRY... JUST TRAVEL...  BE HAPPY

The Rìo Dulce River connects Lago Izabal  and the Caribbean (Livingston.)  From Livingston, there are many boat trips available to take you on the journey to Lago Izabal.  On the way, be on the lookout for the wide variety of fish-eating birds which will swoop from the sky.  You will pass by rain forests, hot springs, a manatee reserve, and thatched huts where the Quiche Mayans can be seen in their dugout canoes or spear fishing.

Exotic Travel at the Restaurant Bahía Azul offers tours to the Rio Dulce and the Biotopo Chocón Machacas, which is a Nature Reserve for the  mangrove swamps and the manatees. You can also make this trip from the Rio Dulce.
