MARISCOS  HISTORY AND INFORMATION

Across Lake Izabal from El Estor, Mariscos is a tiny little town with not much to offer, except to visit the nearby beaches by hired boat.  The most popular, Denny´s Beach, has a full moon party every month.  Camping is available and there is a bar and restaurant.

HOW TO GET HERE: You can get a bus from Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios and get off at a junction where you catch another bus heading to the village.  Just ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance for Mariscos. From Guatemala City, we recommend  taking the Litegua Bus at 15a. Calle 10-30 Zone 1,Tel: 253-8169 It is good, first class and comfortable.  It is a 5 hour ride. Click here for  transportation schedules around the country.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Hotels up to $15 for a double room. There aren't many to choose from, but Denny's Beach is only a 10 minute boat ride from Mariscos, and  is a beautiful place to stay. As soon as you get there, ask around for someone that has a radio and let them know you want to spend the night at Denny's --  they will send someone to pick you up.

RESTAURANTS: There is not a big selection, however most hotels offer services.  For example, the same place where you stay at Denny's Beach you can eat.
