LAKE IZABAL
NOTE:
There is not a specific city that identifies lake Izabal as theirs. There
are just small towns and
villages around the lake so the information given on the left menu covers the
whole region. Lake Izabal is the largest lake in Guatemala. It
covers about 235 square miles and offers many water sports as well as peaceful,
undiscovered beaches. Famous for its fishing
and hunting, Lake Izabal is
also a great spot for boat excursions up the many streams and waterways that
lead into the lake. See the map so you can have a better idea of the lake. Take
a close look at the map for better orientation.
Welcome to Izabal.
In addition to Rio Dulce, the small
town of El Estor is on the lake and offers accommodations. El Relleno
is the starting point for Rio Dulce, Castillo de San
Felipe, and Finca Paraiso.
Mariscos
is the biggest village in the southern part
of the lake and is the starting point for El Estor by a ferry boat.
