Both Finca El Paraíso and Boquerón are easy day trips from El Estor
and well worth seeing. Both can be reached in less than a half an hour by
bus.
Welcome to
el Paraíso
El Paraíso, a beautiful coffee farm set in the jungle, has a thermal hot-water
waterfall that falls into a cool river. It's a great spot to go for
swimming, for a picnic, or to relax in the natural hot spring pools.

There are also caves that can be explored at El Paraíso for the very
experienced or on an arranged tour.
Boquerón, about halfway between El Estor and El Paraíso, is also
worth a stop. With mountains on one side and flat land on the other, the
Río Sauce is an amazing place for a swim. You will be surrounded by a
jungle atmosphere and if you are lucky, you will see a monkey or two.
HOW TO GET
HERE: From Guatemala to El Estor see bus
schedules. By bus,
El Paraíso is about half an hour from El Estor. Take
the bus heading to Rio Dulce, which runs every hour. You also can
hire a boat at El Estor to get here.
Boquerón can be reached using
the same bus to Rio Dulce, or by renting a bicycle and riding the six
miles. By Boat is a more beautiful ride, recommended.
