Castillo San Felipe, located near the Rio Dulce Bridge, is a small fort built
by the Spanish. It was built in 1652 with the purpose of protecting the
locals from the British pirates, who were known for their plundering.
Welcome
The restored fort is a national historic monument and offers great views of
the lake.
HOW TO GET HERE: You
can either walk from San Felipe village which is a nice one hour walk or take a bus.
Or, if you are at El Remate, you can get a boat ride
for about $6 dollars.

is excellent, recommended.
