One of three Sacatepeques villages, San Pedro
Sacatepeques lies about 23 kilometers from Guatemala City and is the first
village of the three that you'll come to. It is the smallest of the trio
and is known for its excellent weaving and colorful huipiles, as well as for the
export-quality flowers. The best day to visit is market day -
Friday.
The village was destroyed in the 1976 earthquake
and has been completely rebuilt.
How to get
there: San Pedro
Sacatepeques can be reached either by car or by bus from the Zone 4 terminal
in Guatemala City. You can also catch a bus from Zone 9 at the corner of
2a. Avenida and 2a. Calle.
