Surrounded by pine trees and pastures, Tactic is a cream and cheese-producing
town which has an interesting Baroque colonial church. The church contains
several Byzantine-style paintings.
The main fame that Tactic has, however, is for the Pozo
Vivo, the Living
Well. Anyone in town can point you in the right direction, and there you
will see what appears to be a boiling caldron of sand, mud, rocks and tin
cans. It is said that the Pozo Vivo is at rest when nobody is around and
only swirls and dances when somebody approaches.
Legend has it that the Pozo Vivo was formed because of a love affair between
a Poqomochì princess and Spanish conquistador De Herrerìas. When the
conquistador was sentenced to death by the High Council, the princess betrayed
her people and followed her lover to the center of the earth. The next
day, the Pozo Vivo appeared at the spot where she entered the earth. On
full moons, the couple's silhouette can be seen passing along the stream
connecting the Pozo Vivo to the Cahabon River.
