For experienced, or very adventurous cave explorers, the Candelaria Caves provide a look at sacred galleries, where murals, pottery and paintings were placed by the Mayans.  This site, consisting of over 200 small caves, has not been fully excavated yet and many of the caves are accessible only by experienced cavers with proper equipment.  Some areas can only be reached by inflatable rafts.

Legend has it that ancient tribes once lived in the caves.  Within the main cave are rooms big enough to hold a football field.
