BASIC INFORMATION

INTERNET ACCESS: The Internet is actually very fashionable in this country and there are many cafes that offer this service at a very modest fee. Ask the tourist office on the main plaza, they will help you.

POST OFFICE: It is right on 2a. Calle and 2a. Ave, in Zone 2. 

BANKS: There are several banks in Coban, including: Banco Granai & Townson, 1a. Calle and 2a. Ave, and Banco del Café, 1a. Ave 2-68.  They are all open Mon - Fri, from 9 am to 7pm and Saturday, from 10 to 2pm. They can all give you cash advances on Visa and Master Card, as well as exchange dollars. No other currency is accepted. Click here if your credit card has being stolen

TELEPHONE: Located on the main plaza with coin phones outside of it. 

LAUNDROMAT:. It is available at Lavanderia Providencia on the main plaza. 

TOURIST INFORMATION:  There is a tourist office on the main plaza, open Mon - Sat from 9 am to 5 pm. They are very helpful.

TRAVEL AGENCIES and TOUR OPERATORS: .There are several recommended travel agencies that offer organized tours to the most interesting places around Coban, like Semuc Champey, and the Lanquin Caves. Here are a couple you can check out: Transportes Turísticos 9a. AIRLINES: They all are located in Guatemala City. 

RENTALS

CAR RENTAL: Remember to reserve your car in advance since these companies are small and they might not have a car available by the time you need it. Also, it is recommended to rent a 4WD if you go places like Lanquin Caves. The following are some companies you can rent from: Tabarini Rent a Car, 5a. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE: For non-emergencies, going to a local doctor recommended by the hotel, travel agency, or friendly resident is your best bet.  But for serious problems, Guatemala City has much to offer in the way of medical services.  Many are English-speaking and/or American-trained doctors.
