CHICHICASTENANGO BASIC INFORMATION

INTERNET ACCESS: Your next bet is at Panajachel. The Internet is actually very fashionable in this country and there are many centers  that offer this service at a very modest fee. 

POST OFFICE: Right on the plaza; you won't miss it unless it is market day. 

BANKS: They only exchange US currency and US travelers checks. You also can exchange at the large hotels or some private business at different officials rates. They serve you at the Guatemalan pace, so just be patient since here, time is not money. Click here if your credit card has been stolen 

TELEPHONE: Most first-class hotels provide you with telephone services, however the public phone company is located behind the Santo Tomas Church. 

LAUNDROMAT: Each hotel usually offers this service.

RENTALS

BIKE RENTAL: Usually there is no time for biking unless you are planning to stay for a couple of days, in that case still is much better to bring your own.

CAR RENTALCheck the Hotel Santo Tomas and the Maya Inn Hotel  for car rentals. 

APARTMENTS: Chichi short for Chichicastenango  it is not a popular place to live, rather people prefer Panajachel or any town around the Atitlan Lake.

MEET SINGLE TRAVELERSMeet other single Caribbean, Central and South American travelers. Go to the local bars in the area.

EMBASSIES: They all are located in Guatemala City. 

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE: For non-emergencies, going to a local doctor recommended by the hotel, travel agency or friendly resident is your best bet.  But for serious problems, Guatemala City has much to offer in the way of medical services.  Many are English-speaking and/or American-trained doctors
