VILLAGE IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA |
The village of Santa Maria de Jesus in
Antigua Guatemala is the
starting point for the hike to the summit of Agua Volcano and offers a
spectacular view of Antigua and the twin peaks of Fuego and Acatenango.
The village was founded in the 16th century and has a reputation of having good
quality textiles.
For those interested in textiles
It is almost 100% pure natives. No gringos here, except maybe a
missionary or two.

How to get
there: There are many
buses from Antigua daily, which can be caught at the market. If you
plan to hike Agua Volcano, you can also go with one of the tour
groups. There are several agencies that offers this tour.
